Coodeo Dog Lift Harness Review

An Introduction To The Coodeo Dog Lift Harness

For dogs that struggle to get around, a lift harness can be a valuable piece of equipment. I’ve been looking at the Coodeo dog lift harness which comes in a range of sizes, making it ideal for most breeds.

This harness offers excellent support and is incredibly well made and these are just some of the brilliant features. I’ll cover more features throughout this Coodeo dog lift harness review.

If you’ve been considering getting a harness for your immobile dog then I think this is a product worth considering. It’s ideal for dogs that find it difficult to get up stairs and will bring a new lease on life, allowing your pet to get around and not be confined because of his physical condition.

Are Dog Sling’s Good for my Pets Health? – A Veterinary Professionals Perspective

Jason Haley - Veterinary Professional
Jason Haley – Veterinary Professional

As a veterinarian, I commonly see joint and mobility issues on a daily basis, especially in older dogs who have either undergone orthopaedic surgery or have developed arthritis. Dog slings are a great tool for pet owners as they help to easily offload excess weight bearing on their dogs’ joints, which significantly reduces pain. This helps to improve the quality of their dogs’ lives while also avoiding the need to carry their dogs everywhere, which can be very labour-intensive for the owner.

There are a wide range of conditions where a dog sling would be appropriate, for your convenience I have listed some below:

  • Osteoarthritis – Joint inflammation and degeneration, typically associated with old age.
  • Hip Dysplasia – When the femoral head luxates from the hip (acetabular region).
  • Elbow Dysplasia
  • Patella Luxation – When the knee bone displaces, usually medially.
  • Septic Arthritis – Infectious inflammation in the joint (typically bacterial)
  • Bone Cancer/ Neoplasia – Typically Osteosarcoma.

Although a dog sling can significantly help to aid in supportive care for these conditions, it is important to note that they are not intended to be sole treatment, but can be used in conjunction with other treatment options. Please visit your vet for further advice on treatment.

Features Of The Coodeo Dog Lift Harness

Coodeo Dog Lift Harness Features

One of the things I really like about the Coodeo dog lift harness is that the manufacturer appears to have left nothing out. This lift harness has everything you’d expect and more, making it one of the most supportive harnesses I’ve looked at to date.

Materials And Durability

The Coodeo dog lift harness is made from a polyester blend and offers comfort and durability by the bucket load.

The inner material is padded and super soft so it feels great next to your dog’s skin and is unlikely to cause any irritation or rubbing. What’s more, the Coodeo dog lift harness is made from breathable material so it isn’t going to make your pup feel too hot on a summer’s day.

Polyester is also an incredibly hard-wearing material which is great news, especially if you’re buying the Coodeo dog lift harness for a bigger dog. You’ll feel confident that the material will be robust enough to support your pet. Moreover the stitching is very secure and the overall appearance of the harness is pleasing.

Ease of Use

Coodeo Dog Lift Harness Key Features

The Coodeo dog lift harness comes with velcro fastenings, making it incredibly easy to fit onto your dog. If you’ve got a pet that doesn’t like to be messed with then this quick and easy type of fastening means you won’t upset him while fixing the harness in place.

That said, there are also six buckles which are designed to be connected in various ways depending on the type of support you want. While this does make the Coodeo dog lift harness extremely versatile, I can see that a lot of people find it complicated.

The front buckles should be connected to support the front legs while the back buckles should be connected to support the hind legs. You can also connect the two sets of buckles together which aids dogs when climbing stairs.

As I said, I’ve seen a lot of people talking about what a complicated process this is but I think once you’ve gotten to grips with it, fastening the buckles will become easier.

Practicalities

Coodeo Dog Lift Harness Practicalities

The Coodeo dog lift harness is designed to protect male dogs while still allowing them to toilet as usual, which is a nice touch.

The harness is very easy to care for although, unlike some products I have looked at in the past, the Coodeo dog lift harness cannot be machine washed. Still, hand washing it in cool water and allowing it to air dry isn’t too much of a problem and certainly wouldn’t put me off using this harness.

I also like that the Coodeo dog lift harness comes with a detachable and adjustable strap. The benefit of this is that you can set the strap to a length that feels comfortable for you so you don’t have to injure yourself while trying to aid your dog.

The Coodeo dog lift harness comes in a great choice of sizes ranging from extra small to XXL. The heaviest weight recommended for the XXL version is 111 lbs while the smallest size is suitable for dogs up to 20 lbs.

One thing I should point out is that I have seen a lot of people say that the sizing is off. Even those buying the extra small found that it was too large for their dogs so it might be worth buying a size smaller than you think you need. Of course, it’s imperative that you test the harness on your dog before use and, if it doesn’t fit correctly, switch it for a different size.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Breathable and comfortable materials
  • High quality and durable
  • Velcro fastenings for quick fitting
  • Comes in a choice of colours and sizes
  • Adjustable strap
  • Easy to clean
Cons
  • Buckles can be a little fiddly to connect
  • Sizing is slightly off – check user feedback for size & fits

Is The Coodeo Dog Lift Harness Right For You?

Coodeo Dog Lift Harness Conclusion

If you’re looking for one of the most durable dog lift harnesses money can buy then the Coodeo dog lift harness is certainly a contender. What’s more, I think this is an ideal harness for dogs that may be a little nervous thanks to how comfortable it is and the easy velcro fastenings.
While there are a couple of downsides to the Coodeo dog lift harness, these wouldn’t deter me from using it and are things that can easily be overcome.

The Coodeo dog lift harness is ideal for dogs of all breeds thanks to the generous number of size options so you’ll likely be able to find something that suits your dog perfectly. However, it is worth keeping in mind that there is quite a difference in price between the smallest and the largest size so, if you’re working to a tight budget, there may be better options out there for you.
