Having a dog that is unable to get up onto the chair, sofa, bed or even into the car means that you need to find ways of helping your pooch. I’ve found that dog steps are one of the safest and most practical methods. My 10 year old Maltese, Lilly, has poor vision and now that she’s older, she finds it very hard getting up and down.
I’ve been testing a variety of dog stairs but I was particularly impressed with the Easipet dog pet access steps. Not only are they very sturdy and brilliant if you haven’t got a lot of room thanks to their folding design, but they’re some of the most affordable dog stairs I’ve come across.

Easipet Pet Steps Design
The Easipet dog pet access steps offer a very solid and stable solution for your pet to ascend and descend a variety of surfaces. What I’ve noticed is that, compared with some other steps I have looked at, these ones had more favourable dimensions. Let me tell you more.
Height
The Easipet dog pet access steps have a maximum height of 47 cm which is significantly higher than something like the ZNM or Neekor steps I have reviewed previously. Anyway, with this greater height, the steps are ideal for high beds or sofas that are a little bigger than average.
Width
Another dimension that seems to be a little different with the Easipet dog pet access steps is the width. Where most steps have a width of 40 cm, on average, these are a little smaller at 38 cm. It’s not a huge difference by any stretch of the imagination but it may be that those 2 cm make it easier to fit the steps into a more compact space.
That said, if you have a slightly larger dog, you may want the maximum width so your pet has plenty of room on each step. This is why it’s important to consider your breed before making a decision.
Shape
If you have a dog that would struggle to fully lift his or her shoulders then I wouldn’t recommend the Easipet dog pet access steps. These are 90 degree solid steps which could prove difficult for some dogs. In these cases, I’d recommend the ZNM foam steps which are more like a ramp than a set of stairs.
However, for young, small breeds, they’re ideal for getting up and down and will help in the prevention of health conditions like hip dysplasia and arthritis in the long run.
Materials and Durability
One of the things I really liked about the Easipet dog pet access steps was that they’re made from plastic. OK, there is a risk of this cracking but I can’t see that happening unless you really manhandle the steps because it’s a very solid plastic and the stairs are incredibly well made.
What’s more, they come with carpet pieces that you can add to the steps if your dog needs a little more grip. That said, I would urge you to consider whether this is a good option if you’re going to be using the steps outside. Once that carpet gets wet, it’s going to be hard to clean.
The overall build quality of the Easipet dog pet access steps, as I said, is very good and they feel extremely stable. While there is no information online about the weight limit of these steps, I have seen some users commenting that they have 40 kg dogs who use them without any sign of wobbling, weakening or wear and tear.
I should also point out that, being made from plastic, these steps are so easy to keep clean. They can be wiped over with a damp cloth and there’s no need to remove covers. If you’re looking for something low maintenance, I’d highly recommend the Easipet dog pet access steps.
Easipet Pet Steps Practicalities
You’ll notice that the Easipet dog pet access steps come flat packed so they will need to be erected when you first buy them. However, this is incredibly easy and hassle-free plus, when the steps aren’t in use, they can be folded down to almost flat for easy storage. That said, the two push buttons that you need to release to fold the steps can be a bit fiddly.
On the bottom of the Easipet dog pet access steps are four rubber feet so the stairs will not move around if you use them on a tiled floor. Or at least, that’s the idea. I did notice that these rubber feet were not as effective as some of the other products I have tried and if you’ve got a particularly excitable dog that is prone to running up the steps, this could come with a bit of movement on a hard floor.
Not only do these steps fold down but they’re also very lightweight which means you can easily move them around the house. They’re also brilliant for helping your pet get in and out of the car and it’s no trouble to carry them outside.

Suitable For
I think that the Easipet dog pet access steps are ideal for younger dogs where the owner wants to prevent future health conditions. When dogs spend a lot of time unnecessarily jumping to get up and down, this puts a lot of stress on their joints. Eliminating this will ensure good physical health for longer as well as a reduced risk of things like hernias.
My old dog who is blind would likely benefit from a ramp-like design and soft materials which are less likely to hurt her should she bump into them. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend these steps for very old or disabled dogs.
Final Thoughts
I really liked the Easipet dog pet access steps even if they weren’t the perfect choice for my pet. However, they would be ideal in many situations especially where the owner is looking for stairs that are low maintenance, easy to use and space saving yet still incredibly stable.
What’s more, I found that the Easipet dog pet access steps were among some of the most affordable without a compromise on quality. If you have a young small breed then they’d be one of the first I would recommend.
