PETLIBRO is a well-known brand and I’ve reviewed some of their other products, including my favourite Petlibro 4L automatic pet feeder, in the past. I was really pleased with what I saw so I wanted to check out their cat water fountain.
The PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain provides owners with the peace of mind that their pets will always have access to fresh water, even when they can’t be around. It comes in two designs; a battery powered version and a mains cable version so you’ve got versatile options.
What’s more, the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain is incredibly simple to use and offers a reliable way of providing your pet with water that’s incredibly safe. In my PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain review, I’ll be looking at the key features and telling you exactly what to expect.

There are two designs of the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain and this is based around how they’re powered. There’s a battery powered version or, if you’re looking for something more affordable, there’s also a model that can be plugged into the wall.
I’d like to cover the differences between the two but first, allow me to tell you how they’re similar. In both cases, the water fountain comes with a stainless steel bowl. What’s great about this is that it’s not only easy to clean but this material is also much less likely to harbour bacteria and is therefore more hygienic and safe for your pet.
Where safety is concerned, the last thing you want is your pet drinking contaminated or dirty water. But that isn’t a problem with the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain since both models are equipped with a vertical water filter that gets rid of all impurities and ensures oxygen enriched water.
Both the battery powered and mains version of the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain are capable of holding up to 2.5 litres of water so they’re ideal if you’re headed away for a couple of days.
What also caught my attention was how quietly these two devices operated. If you have a timid cat then a noisy machine just isn’t going to serve you but since the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain runs at just 23dB, it’s unlikely to frighten your cat.
Now, let’s take a look at the battery powered PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain; this comes with a 5.0Ah lithium ion battery that’s designed for a long life. Not only in terms of how long the battery lasts but also how long it runs on a single charge. Just one charge will see your pet through 30 days. Although it is important to keep in mind that there will be variables on this such as how many cats are using the fountain.
I was really impressed to see some of the useful features on the battery PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain such as a battery and water low indicator light so you can more easily manage the system. There is also a choice of water flow options including a constant stream or a motion activated stream which gives you a chance to set the fountain in a way that works best for your pet; after all, each cat is unique.
Where safety is concerned, the battery powered PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain is ideal since there are no wires that your pet may bite or play with which of course, could be dangerous. What’s more, when the device is charging, you won’t need to worry about mixing water and electricity since the charger has a waterproof rating of IPX7!
If that wasn’t enough, the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain is fitted with a foreign object detector. If your cat’s collar or any other object makes contact with the charger, the fountain will switch off. This is a nice safety feature that gives you greater peace of mind.
Finally, the battery powered PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain does come in a choice of colours, although these are limited to black and white. Still, it’s nice to be able to choose something that fits the aesthetic of your home.
It is worth keeping in mind that the battery powered PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain currently sells for £75.99 which is markedly more than the mains powered model that costs a mere £45.99.
However, I should tell you that the mains powered PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain doesn’t come with as many smart features. That said, the device will shut off when the water level falls too low and there are again two water flow options including gushing and fountain. Again, this makes it easy to find an option that suits your pet.
Replacements
Earlier, I mentioned that the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain (both versions) come with a vertical water filter. While this is a handy thing to have, it isn’t something that’s going to last a lifetime and the filter will need to be periodically replaced.
This does mean that there are ongoing costs associated with the water fountain but you can get four replacement filters for around £20. Each filter lasts between two and four weeks so when you break it down, you’re only looking at around £5-£10 per month to run the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain.
With the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain, you may also need to replace the wireless water pump which sits inside the machine. Again, this costs around £20 per replacement and this won’t need to be replaced as often as the filters.
Dual Water Modes
The dual water modes of the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain are designed to provide pet owners with a range of options to suit their pets’ drinking preferences. The first mode is the regular flow mode, which is available in the power chord operated model. This mode creates a 24/7 regular flow of fresh water, providing a constant supply of clean water for your pets to drink from.
The second mode is the radar induction mode, which is available in both the power chord operated and battery operated models. This mode is activated when your pet comes within an 80cm radius of the feeder, ensuring that they have access to fresh water every time they approach the feeder.
In addition to the radar induction mode, the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain also runs a fresh water flow for 15 seconds every hour, regardless of whether your pet is there or not. This helps to ensure that the water is always fresh and flowing, preventing stagnant water from accumulating and reducing the risk of bacterial growth.

Setting Up The PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain
If there’s one thing that puts a lot of people off buying this type of technology, it’s the potential for complicated assembly. However, I noticed that the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain is really easy to put together and can be done in six simple steps.
● Start by soaking the filter in clean water for five minutes and then drying for 30 seconds
● Now take the foam filter and the silicone pipe and insert it into the water pump
● Fill the tank with water and install the tray before sealing the lid
● Take the filter that you soaked earlier and attach this then seal the filter lid
● Turn on the power (mains version will first need to be plugged into the wall)
● Line the protruding water pump hole on the tank with the base and attach the two together.
Once everything is put together, the PETLIBRO Cat Water Fountain will pretty much run itself. However, you will need to take it apart for cleaning but this is also incredibly easy. The water pump can be removed and taken apart so you can get into all the nooks and crannies to make sure that your pet always has a clean place to drink from.
